ADHESION AND COHESION AT INTERFACES IN HIGH PERFORMANCE GLASSY SYSTEMS

Efficiency of coated photovoltaic panels

Photovoltaic panels are expected to perform with nearly unchanged efficiency for over twenty years. However, their lifetime is often limited by a loss of efficiency due to opacization phenomena of the protective glass panel, caused by weathering and biofilm formation. Within ADGLASS we will test our newly developed high-perfomance coating materials in prototype photovoltaic panels installed in representative outdoor locations. In our long-term experiments both the high cohesive properties and the anti-adherent properties of the novel materials are designed to lead to an improved performance over the whole lifetime of the products.
