ADHESION AND COHESION AT INTERFACES IN HIGH PERFORMANCE GLASSY SYSTEMS

Novel coating materials for solar glass panels

A high performance of glass products in renewable energy applications such as photovoltaic panels and solar collectors is essential to improve their efficiency and lifetime. In particular, coating layers on solar glass panels are requested to possess both finely tuned optical properties to optimize their transmission coefficient, and high coehesive properties to avoid phenomena of aging and thus of long-term efficiency loss. ADGLASS is working on innovative solutions to combine both this properties in a unique material, exploiting the knowledge acquired via atomistic simulations of cohesion and experiments of controlled fracture propagation.
